Girls Coach/Girls Run Program

Using running as a springboard for many other conversations, the WFLC is piloting an exciting new program. Middle and high school girls from Guilford, Madison and Branford are invited to become coaches and assistant coaches to 4th grade girls who will train for a 5K run. The program runs for the winter and spring.  During the winter months, high school girls will receive coaching training and work on developing the spring program. Middle school girls will receive assistant coach training in early spring and help to develop the Girls Run for elementary students. The Girls Run program will begin in April, culminating in a 5K run in late May. The WFLC is seeking high school, middle school and elementary-aged girls interested in participating. No running experience is necessary, as running is only one aspect of a larger effort devoted to girls' health and friendship. The WFLC also seeks adult facilitators, whose work overseeing the girls' program will be crucial. Interested adults should contact the WFLC through the end of January.

This program is made possible through a grant from the Guilford Fund for Education and the generous Fund-a-Cause donors from this year's 15th annual Men Who Cook.
